I haven’t done a Good News journal entry in a while, and we need to catch up. But, today I want to share what the Good News or Gospel really is. This may not be new news to some of you, but to others this is will be the best news you’ve ever heard.

You see, back when Adam & Eve were living the high life in the Garden of Eden, they were given guidelines to follow. God told them that they had access to everything except this one tree – it was set aside and holy. Instead of following the guidelines they disobeyed God and ate of the tree. This is when the curse of sin entered the world, and would subsequently be passed down from generation to generation (the reason why everyone is born a sinner) – it’s in the bloodline.

So, what was man to do? He was now separated from his first love, God, and the obstruction that stood in the way of him being close to God was now apart of his nature…Here comes the good part: God passionately pursued us from day one. Even though we rejected His love and His will for our lives, it was not His plan or will for us to be slaves to sin. So, if sin was in the bloodline, He was going to make a new “bloodline” available to us, which washed away our sins (instead of harboring them).

Jesus came to pay the price of sin, offer us a clean slate, and provide that up close and personal relationship with God again, our first love. The Good News is Jesus paid the debt of sin, which redeemed us from poverty, sickness, and spiritual death (i.e. separation from God). Although mankind is still born a sinner, when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your “bloodline” is changed, and you no longer have to be subject to/slave to sin. This doesn’t mean that Christians never sin again, but we have forgiveness and sin doesn’t have to lord over us anymore…We now have a merciful, loving, kind Lord.

If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, God is not mad at you. He loves you so much that He sacrificed His Son to pave the way for you to come to Him. Sin no longer has to stand in the way of you and God. Come to Him, and let Him remove the chains of sin and clothe you with love.**G.I.G.**
