Hiding

Source.

People usually go into hiding when there’s something to fear, and they remain there until the “coast is clear.” Today I want to invite you to come out of hiding. You no longer have to hide any part of yourself from God for fear of rejection or judgement. He already saw and knew everything there was to see and know about you, including your shortcomings and most undesirable qualities, before He died for you. Believe it or not, He actually desires the ugliest parts of us – the parts that we hide from everyone.

Before Jesus died, he filled a basin with water and began to wash the disciples’ feet, the dirtiest part of their bodies. The disciples’ initial response was to pull away and hide that part of themselves from Him, but He insisted. Jesus already knew that what He was asking for was the filthiest part of them, but He also knew He could clean and heal. So, if He desires the beautiful and unsightly (i.e. every part of us), why are we hiding? Jesus’ death ensured that we could come boldly to God without any condemnation or shame…Come out of hiding. **G.I.G.**

Check out the lyrics to this beautiful song by Steffany Gretzinger entitled, “Out of Hiding (Father’s Song)”:

Come out of hiding

You’re safe here with Me

There’s no need to cover what I already see

You’ve got your reasons but I hold your peace

You’ve been on lockdown and I hold the key

‘Cause I loved you before you knew it was love

And, I saw it all, still I chose the cross

And, you were the one that I was thinking of when I rose from the grave

Now, rid of the shackles, my victory’s yours

I tore the veil for you to come close

There’s no reason to stand at a distance anymore

You’re not far from home

I’ll be your lighthouse when you’re lost at sea

And, I will illuminate everything

No need to be frightened by intimacy

No, just throw off your fear and come running to me.

And, know as you run, what hindered love will only become part of the story

Baby, you’re almost home now

Please don’t quit now
