Smooth Operator

Happy Friday! I have a quick and easy recipe that will help your body become a “Smooth Operator!”

You may have guessed it by now, but today’s recipe is a smoothie recipe, and not just any smoothie but a GREEN smoothie (the greener the better). One of my New Year’s resolutions was to take better care of my body, and consuming more fruits and veggies is a great way to love your body! This smoothie is jam-packed with lots of good stuff to help maintain the health of your body and it tastes good too (it’s a win-win)!
 
Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Coconut Water (I used the plain water, but you can definitely try a flavored one to add a little more sweetness)
  • Granny Smith Apple
  • Banana
  • Avocado
  • Kale
  • *Spinach
  • Frozen Fruit (I used strawberries, mangos, peaches & pineapples – came in one bag)
  • Booster (I used flaxseeds w/ Fiber)
  • Honey

 
Here’s the standard formula I used for my smoothie (you can change up the ingredients if you like):

Here’s the single serve blender I used (it was only $19.99 at WalMart – take that NutriBullet!):

Okay. Now for the steps….

1. Chop up the apple and banana into chunks. I use half of a banana and half of an apple per cup, so I usually end up making 2 smoothies (one for now and one for later). Once chopped, dump into blender cup.

2. Fill up cup half-way with coconut water (Vita Coco is the BEST coconut water! Love it!)

3. Add 1/4 of avocado, a handful of Kale (*& spinach  – I completely forgot to add it to this smoothie), and a handful of frozen fruit. The frozen fruit is great because it adds a little chill without the use of ice.

4. Add 1/2 tbsp of flaxseeds/fiber mixture

5. Top it off with 3 – 4 swirls of honey.

6. Blend for about 30sec – 1min.

P.S. – I usually drink one of these every morning for breakfast. The ingredients in this smoothie have a plethora of health benefits, from heart health to eye health (it even benefits your hair).
