Gift Wrap

Source.

I’m sure everyone’s just about done with their Christmas shopping, and now it’s time for gift wrapping. Yay! There are people who put very little thought into the outward adornment of their gifts. Then, there are those who’s gift wrap looks so perfect that you almost don’t want to tear into the gift, almost.

From my “many” years of celebrating Christmas, I’ve learned that the best gifts come wrapped in the most unlikely packaging. Most of the time we expect boxes topped with pretty bows, or even brown paper packages tied up with string (love that song). But, the greatest “Gift” this world has ever received came wrapped in swaddling clothes, and, more importantly, this “Gift” came wrapped in flesh, like yours and mine. Jesus came to the earth as a gift. Everything He did was for the sole purpose of giving us a better life, a more abundant life. His birth brought hope, His life brought healing, and His death brought/bought freedom. And, even after He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, His departure brought the Holy Spirit.

Some may say Jesus is not the best gift they’ve ever received. To that I say, the greatness of this “Gift” is only unrecognizable to those who haven’t “unwrapped” Him yet. If you never go beyond the “gift wrap,” you’ll never know how great the “Gift” is…Jesus made it possible for us to have a direct relationship with the Father. So, don’t let a great gift go to waste. Get to know Him.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas! **G.I.G.**
