Inspiration

Whenever I dated a guy that worked out a lot, I was always bewildered by that fact that even though they injured themselves, they would never let anything come between them and the gym. I use to think it was foolish, because why would anyone continue to put pressure/stress on a muscle that you just sprained? Nonsense! Well, at least I thought it was until recently. Since my schedule is starting to settle down, I began running daily again. And, my inspiration has been my desire to reach my goals. Also, I don’t want to go back to how I was before. So, last week I was running in my neighborhood, and I made a misstep and twisted my ankle. Afterwards, it was painful to walk much less run on it, but instead of going home, I pushed myself and ran the rest of my coarse. Then, I got up the next morning to run, and ran again that evening. And, I’ve been running ever since (BTW, my ankle is doing better).

So, why am I telling you this? Well, there are parallels between a person’s desire to enhance their physical and their spiritual. In order to improve your physique, you’ve got to get to a point where you get tired of how you are right now, and you’ve got to become determined to make progress without backtracking. Likewise, in order to draw closer to God and become more like Him, you’ve got to get tired of your old habits, strongholds, and mindset. You’ve to make up your mind to chase after the things of God, and not let anything come between you and Him; not weariness; not disappointment; and not heartache. And, just like I couldn’t understand why in the world guys would go back in the gym after they got hurt, others won’t understand why you continue to chase after God even though it looks as though your prayers have been unanswered. BUT, they just don’t understand that you remember what you use to be like before you met Him, and you don’t want to go back. And, you understand that God has not forgotten about you, so you continue to press towards the mark! You keep pushing. Even though, it may hurt right now, you understand that you’re building your faith and you’ll become stronger as a result.**G.I.G.**
