Garnished Wages

Wages

Our wages have been completely garnished. What we should’ve earned has been collected by Someone else. Usually most people would be outraged, but the wages that belonged to us were not something desirable. Our hourly pay should’ve been sickness, our overtime poverty, and our bonus depression. BUT, Jesus collected those wages. You see, the wages of sin is death (i.e. – the decline/loss of life), but, because of Jesus, the bountiful, free gift of God is eternal life.  What does this mean for us right now? It means that we should be living life, not death. Jesus came that we may have life, and have it more abundantly (to the full, till it overflows); that’s why He “collected our wages” for us. I’m not saying the symptoms of death or “wages” won’t come, I’m telling you not to “collect them.” Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection has ensured that we don’t have to experience the effects of death, but should death come, Jesus left us His promises/Word, His Name, and the Holy Spirit…When you accept Jesus, you go from being on sin’s payroll to reaping the unearned benefits of life & righteousness (i.e. right standing w/ God).

P.S. – Jesus has already sacrificed His life so that we could have life. Now, our job is to defend those blood-bought rights that He’s already secured for us.
