Why I Blog

Why do I blog? I blog because I want to help others by sharing what’s on the inside of me. I don’t have all the answers to every problem in life, but I have learned a lot from the situations I’ve been through. I believe God has given me the ability to share my experiences in a way that offers great illumination to others. Sometimes things are hard to see, but quite often if you move to a different spot you can get a better view. And, I want my blog (i.e. my “point of view”) to be that “new spot” that offers a better view. It’s my desire that the words I share will help to paint a clearer picture of the answer – Jesus.

Here’s a metaphor I wrote a few years ago that explains why I live my life the way I do:

I was trapped in a burning building with no way out. The arsonist sealed my fate in flames. Just when I felt all hope was lost, a Firefighter pulled me out of harm’s way & led me to safety, but the rescue came at the expense of His own life. I’m alive today because of Him. There’s no way I can repay Him, but I did decide to become a “firefighter” just like Him so I can save others from the deadly flames. **G.I.G.**

P.S. – I know some people aren’t into metaphors, so I’ll break it down. Before I met Jesus, my life was destined for destruction. Satan would be the “arsonist” and Jesus the “firefighter.” Jesus sacrificed His life to save mine. Subsequently, I’ve decided to dedicate my life to being like Him, a “firefighter” that saves others from destruction. And, the way I “save lives” may not be as “heroic” as the way someone else does, but I just use the gift that God has given me & have faith that it’s impacting lives…

  • This is so encouraging, and I am so happy that you are using your God-given gifts to help others. I’ve had to learn that transparency is so important. I used to hide my past thinking that people wouldn’t understand, or they’d judge me. And, maybe some might. BUT now I know the power in speaking out and letting others know, I’ve been through some things and maybe what I’ve learned can help you. Thanks for what you do, sis!! You are helping and encouraging many. <3

    • Yes, definitely share! I’ve learned that the best way to give God the glory & rub it in the devil’s face at the same time is to share my testimony. I’ve had a lot of failures, disappointments, and embarrassing moments, but I learned something from every situation. So, now I use my past experiences as an “instrument” to praise God!
