Healthy Living – Update 5

Hi guys! It’s time for another healthy living update! I can’t remember exactly where I left off last time, but all I can say is I’ve been doing a lot of whining lately; mainly because my workouts are getting more intense. I don’t want to scare anyone away from pursuing a healthier lifestyle, but it ain’t easy! When exercising, 30secs feels like an hour, and 5mins feels like an eternity!

After completing my workouts, my new victory song is Marvin Sapp’s ‘My Testimony’: “So glad I made it, I made it through!…So, if you see me cry, it’s just a sign that I’m still alive.” LoL! Yeah, it’s like that!

I will admit that even though I feel like I can’t go any further during my workouts, afterwards I’m pumped up like “What’s next?!” But, I wouldn’t DARE tell my trainer that! No, Lord! LoL!

For those of you who don’t know, I started running (I think it was last month), and now I run a mile during every workout. The most I’ve run so far is 1.5 miles, and I’m starting to pick up my speed. The fact that I’m running is a testimony in and of itself, because when I first started training with Abei you couldn’t get me to run to save my life. Really! If I were in a horror movie, I would’ve been an easy catch for the killer. LoL! But, not now, BOY! Catch me if you can!!!

Side Note: I haven’t gotten to the point where I absolutely love running, but I keep pushing myself until I meet my goals. And, it helps to have to some upbeat music (w/ bass). To me, it’s almost like it’s my theme song while I’m running. This is my favorite song to run to:

I have some new measurements for you guys (click here to see the previous measurements):

Hips: 35.5in (down 1.5in)

Upper Leg: 19in (same)

Upper Arm: 12in (same)

As you can see, I’ve made some progress! It may have been slow, but progress nonetheless. The previous measurements were taken on 10/08/2012 and these were taken on 02/26/2013. Although the initial measurements were taken 4.5 months prior to the new ones, I honestly don’t believe I started making progress until the new year. Reason: I was only working out w/ my trainer once a week at the end of 2012, and I ate HORRIBLY during the holidays. My “new lifestyle” didn’t really start until January 2013; that’s when I started working w/ Abei twice a week, and that’s when she stepped up my workouts.

What’s Next?: I’ve set a new goal to shed more inches off my waistline by the beginning of April (that’s a month away)! Subsequently, I’m on a stricter diet during the month of March (I do get a free day for my birthday, though. YAY!!). Also, I have to step up my cardio. Abei taught me that increased cardio is the most efficient way to help me shed those extra inches due to my body type (my body type is mainly “Ectomorph”).

March is going to be tough. I’ve never been on a strict diet, and I’ve never worked out this much in my life. I know I cannot do this solely by willpower. I need God’s help! Subsequently, this is the confession I’ve started speaking over my life starting today:

In the name of Jesus, I declare that I cultivate temperance by subjecting my mind and body to God’s Word. I cast down every negative thought about my appearance that attempts to exalt itself against the knowledge of God and His will for my life. I exhibit self-control, diligence, wisdom and patience regarding my exercise regimen and what I eat. I walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. I put to death the unhealthy desires of my body. Jesus is Lord over my eating habits. I am more than a conqueror, and I can do all things through Christ Who empowers me. I release most holy faith to bring these things to pass in my life and charge my angels to carry out each assignment. My words have creative ability, and in the name of Jesus, I have what I say. Amen!

And, here’s another great confession:

In the name of Jesus, I declare that my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, and I glorify God with it. I present a healthy body to God and discipline myself not to overeat. I only eat food that promotes health. The life of God flows through my spirit, soul and body, and brings healing to every fiber of my being. I am redeemed from the curse of the law, and no weapon of sickness or disease formed against me will prosper. Amen! **G.I.G.**
