Hi guys! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Healthy Living Update, and, my oh my has a lot happened. I don’t know where to start, but I’ll try to give you guys a quick run down…So, November & December were interesting months. After consuming Chick-Fil-A three times in one week (hey! It was a stressful week), I had an epiphany: Melissa, you need to (consistently) eat better if you want to see results. It was then that I realized that I needed to learn how to eat better & I needed to eat healthy snacks when stressed (or, better yet, pray). Subsequently, I set out to find literature on better eating. And, I did. I purchased two books on “Clean Eating” (book 1 & book 2). Not to mention, I ate “cleaner” for two weeks straight (I cooked all my meals so new “Fruit Snacks” posts are coming soon). That is until the holidays came with all its yummy trimmings! My trainer said it’s normal to take a break/“cheat” during the holidays. Although I received my trainer’s blessing, I still felt bad that I ended my “good thing” so quickly (just when I started getting accustomed to it). And, after holidays filled with sugar in all shapes & sizes, how was I supposed to go back to “squeaky clean” eatin’?! Well, thankfully (for more reasons than one), I just started a 21-day fast with my church that’s sure to revive new-found, healthy eating habits.

In other news, I’ve stepped up my workouts! Prior to the holidays, I was working out once a week with my trainer (strength training) and about 2 times a week independently. Now, I’m meeting with my trainer twice a week! Also, Abei (my trainer) has stepped up the intensity of my workouts. All I’ll say is now I REALLY know the meaning of “no pain no gain!” I betta be getting some gain from all this pain!! LoL!

muscle

I like to call this picture “The Right to Bear Arms!” Get it?! Arms…guns (i.e. muscles)?!! Cheesy, I know! Couldn’t resist. I love puns!…As you can see my arms are starting to show a “little” muscular definition.

mini gym

And, I’m starting to build my mini home gym piece by piece!

P.S. – I truly desire to see results, but I don’t want to rush it. I see other people doing a 30-day or 90-day challenge, and getting amazing, quick results, but I want to develop a new mindset, a new way of life. I don’t want to acquire over-night results only to see them go down the drain a month later because I’ve reverted back to my old habits. I want to take my time and “change my mind.” **G.I.G.**
