Greatness

Today we honor a man who was a mighty trailblazer for change in this nation. He worked tirelessly to transform the mindset of his neighbors; he encouraged them that equality and freedom was something entitled to everyone. I’m sure there were days he got discouraged, but he did not give up. He fought for what was right until the day he died. I’m sure we can all agree that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great man, but what is it that made him great? I personally believe it’s because he realized his living was not in vain; he realized he had a call on his life, and he pursued it relentlessly…A life that has purpose, a life that exudes greatness is not something exclusive to a select few. We all have the ability to be great. Our greatness is revealed when we pursue our God-given purpose, and we realize that the greatest people are really those who serve others.

Dr. King expressed this best in the last sermon he preached before he died. The whole sermon is great, but I suggest starting around the 13:42 minute mark. **G.I.G.**

“Everyone has the power for greatness, not for fame, but greatness, because greatness is determined by service.”  – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
