Keep Dreaming

I surprisingly found myself in the land of complacency over the Thanksgiving holiday. Apparently I had been there for a while, but I didn’t know it. Complacency is defined as a feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy. So, what was I complacent about? Life as-is. I had subconsciously accepted my situation, my current status quo. This epiphany came to me upon visiting my uncle’s new home that was breathtakingly beautiful, by the way. Every room looked like it could’ve been it’s own episode on HGTV. It was then I realized that I had stopped dreaming and stopped setting goals. I remember there a was a time when I would watch HGTV all the time, purchase home design magazines, and even drive through certain neighborhoods to get an idea of what I wanted in a home. And, you know what? I got blessed with a nice home, but it’s just a “stepping stone.” It’s not my dream home by a long shot, but it’s almost as though I’ve accepted it as my dream because I stopped dreaming.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s done this; that’s why I’m sharing this wake up call with you guys in hopes that it will wake up others too. We cannot accept our “stepping stone” as our final destination. We’ve got to keep dreaming; keep setting goals; and keep believing God. I believe complacency is the devil’s way of stealing our vision from us. If he can only get us to become satisfied with “life as-is,” he can get us to turn loose the real plans God has for our lives, which is vested in the visions/dreams He’s given us.

You should always have a dream, a vision, or a goal that you’re working towards. If you find yourself without any dreams or you’ve let go one or more of your dreams, then you’re in a state of complacency. Don’t let complacency cause you to stop dreaming, because quite often those dreams are given to us by God…Keep dreaming. **G.I.G.**

For I know the plans I have for you..They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)

  • Amen! I, myself, has also been here. I know the feeling all too well. Matter of fact, I realized I had been feeling this way about 2-3 months ago! I have revamped my goals and reignited those dreams again. I’m excited for my future AND for yours!! Great things ahead, sis! Keep pressing and focusing on God :)

    • Aww!! I’m so happy you’re resetting your goals & dreams!! Yes, I’m excited for the both of us! I used to do confessions every morning before I started my day, and I’m going to get back to doing that. I need to start speaking some things into my life again! :-)

Melissa, never let go of your dreams and desires. Mark 11:24 says ” Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” ………
