Comfort Zone

A comfort zone is a situation or position in which a person feels secure, comfortable, or in control. There are some who never step outside of their comfort zone, and, if it were up to me, I’d be one of them. BUT, I realize that my comfort zone limits my life, and what I’m able to do for Christ, so I have to venture “outside.” And, I know it’s not easy. Just today, my co-workers urged me to do something (a good thing) that was completely outside of my comfort zone. Let’s just say, geographically speaking, if my comfort zone were the US, what they were asking me to do was in Russia (LoL). When faced with something beyond the boundaries of my comfort zone, I realized that fear is what keeps me stationary – not “comfort.” Then, I started thinking about 2 Timothy 1:7 (God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind). If I believe that scripture, and I do, I have to start tearing down the walls of my comfort zone that keep me isolated from living my life to the fullest…and I encourage you to do the same thing.

The best visual I can give regarding stepping outside of a comfort zone is in Matthew 14 where Peter walked on water. He stepped out of the boat, something he knew to be secure, and walked on the water, an uncharted territory. And, although Peter was afraid, he took a step out in faith. I know he ultimately fell, but I was more motivated by the fact that he took a step outside of the boat. And, truth be told, we may fall when you step outside of our comfort zone, but we cannot let the fear of falling determine whether or not we step “outside”…I’m so “preaching” to myself right now! LoL **G.I.G.**

Continue stepping out of your comfort zone. It has worked so far- from going natural to starting your blog in the first place. Keep “preaching” to yourself so that you can keep encouraging the lives of others.
