Healthy Living – Week 1

Hey guys!! Thought I’d give you an update on how my first week went! Well, I’m still logging my meals into my food journal. And, to be honest, at first I tried (within my own strength/existing knowledge) to be “good.” I went cold turkey on my bad eating habits!…Well, that lasted a good 4 – 5 days! My food journal is starting to look all kinds of crazy now! LoL! I liken this process to being newly born again. When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your spirit is new, BUT your body/flesh/mind ain’t! Your thoughts and desires are the same as they were before you got saved. That’s why it’s important to renew your mind with Word. LIKEWISE, living a healthy lifestyle is not going to happen overnight. I’m going to have to change the way I think (& adjust my taste buds! LoL). And, that’s going take time, growth & education. That’s why this is a journey (so excited)!

Well, aside from my food journal, I met with Abei (my trainer) over the weekend for my initial assessment. And, here are my results & the goals she set for me:

Body Fat %: 28.99%

Desired Body Fat: 20.00%

Body Fat to Lose: 15.42 lbs

Total Weight: 137.20 lbs (I promise you. When I stepped on the scale that morning, it said 133! I know you weigh less in the a.m., but dang! LoL)

Lean Body Weight: 97.42 lbs

Body Fat Weight: 39.78 lbs

Goal Weight: 121.78 Ibs (this figure is only taking into consideration fat loss & not muscle gain, so my final weight will be higher)

Skinfold Measurements:

Tricep: 23mm

Suprailiac: 27mm

Thigh: 26mm

Additional Measurements:

Waist: 32in

Hips: 37in

Upper Leg: 19in

Upper Arm: 12in

As you can see from the chart, I fall within the “average” category (according to 26-30 age bracket). My goal is definitely to get in the “ideal” category, and still keep my girlish figure (he he Winking smile)…During our session, Abei also gave me a lot of helpful tips on eating, but I’ll share more on that as I get a better understanding & start incorporating it into my lifestyle.

Finally, here’s a photo of my first healthy dish I made this week (the color kinda reminds me of “Green Eggs & Ham”):

It’s looks mouth-watering, doesn’t it?! I know!!! LoL…It’s Chicken (mushrooms & green peppers) with Pesto sauce and whole wheat pasta. It was pretty tasty, but I will say that the whole wheat pasta is gonna take some getting use to!

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll share more next week. Oh, and Abei as well as my friend, Dolly, gave me some healthy recipes, so I’ll be posting those dishes as I create them. I know I said it before, but I’m so excited!!

P.S. – I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning, so please keep me in your prayers. The teeth are impacted, so pray that I have a swift (and as-little-pain-as-possible) recovery!…Oh, and still check out the blog tomorrow. I’ll have a new WoW Style post up!  **G.I.G.**
