This is something that my mom shared with me last week, and I was so blown away that I asked her to type it up for me so I could share it with you guys. I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me:

I was sharing with you something I got from watching the Olympics on Tuesday night. I noticed that the commentators kept using the term “confidence” over and over again. My former beliefs led me to believe that too much confidence was a sign of arrogance, & I wanted no part of it.  I noticed the best performing athletes, were all described as having confidence. I learned that no matter how long the athlete practiced, and no matter how much sacrifice was done to get them to that point, none of it mattered if they lacked the confidence to withstand the pressure. For example, as I watched the ladies gymnastics competition between Russia and the United States, I noticed a young Russian girl struggling terribly. The commentator said that she didn’t have the experience or confidence to be there.  I couldn’t fully understand why they kept using the term “confidence.” Here again, I always equated too much confidence as being cocky or arrogant, and then it happened, I felt like the Lord was saying that the world defines confidence as being confident in one’s own abilities, but when you know God, your confidence is in His ability. I saw Gabby Douglas (a member of the US Women’s gymnastic team) being interviewed, and when asked where she got her confidence from she responded that she meditates on scriptures. I finally got a real understanding about confidence. As a Christian I can be confident, that my God is able to do anything, and get me through anything no matter the obstacle, no matter the pressure.

The LORD will be your confidence; He will guard your feet from being snared. (Proverbs 3:26 CEB) **G.I.G.**

P.S. – I’m so proud of Gabby Douglas!!! :-D
