Progress Report #1

Today’s Passage: My child, keep your father’s command; don’t abandon your mother’s instruction. Bind them on your heart for all time; fasten them around your neck. When you walk around, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will protect you; when you awake, they will occupy your attention. The commandment is a light; corrective teaching is the path of life. (Proverbs 6:20-24 CEB)

Hello there! I just wanted to do a quick post to give a “Progress Report” (remember those from grade school??) on my hair growth since going natural. First, let me give you some important dates:

Last Relaxer: March 15, 2011

Big Chop (cut off chemically processed hair): December 31, 2011

Transitioned for 9.5 months (3/15/11 – 12/31/11)

So far, I’ve been completely natural for 6 months (from 12/31/11 until now).

Relaxer/Chemical free for 15.5 months (since 3/15/11)

Now, let’s recap. Here’s a few pics from December 31st, the day I BC’d:

Relaxed Ends

See how straight & fragile the chemically processed hair looks

Right before it went in the trash…can’t believe I threw away that much hair! LoL! Oh well, it’s growing back fast (thicker & healthier).

The new me! Talk about a New Year’s Resolution Smile

So how am I doing now? 6 months later…(Pics Taken: 7/4/2012)

Front: 7inches (I previously said 8inches, but that was an error…my forehead is not that big! LoL)

Crown: 8inches

Sides: 7inches

Back: 8inches (left) & 7.75 (right)…one side grows faster

wet damp

And here’s a couple pics of my hair wet/damp. See the shrinkage. Well, it gets even shorter once it’s completely dry.

Somewhat Dry1

And, this is somewhat dry…

Somewhat Dry2

…it takes just about all day for my hair to air dry.

Okay. That’s it for my first “Progress Report.” I’m loving the progress (considering that I’ve had this much growth in less than a year & a half). Stay tuned. I’m going to do a “Progress Report” every two months, so look out for the next one at the end of August/beginning of September. **G.I.G.**
