Good News Journal – Entry 2

Today’s Proverbs Verse:  To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper (Proverbs 19:8 NLT).

Want to know the most effective way to share Jesus? Hint: It’s not by standing on a corner and screaming at everyone who passes by. Although that sounds enticing, most people don’t like to be yelled at. No, the best way to share Jesus is through how you live your life on a daily basis. Believe it or not, your life is the biggest billboard for Christ. Your life and how you live it is what the people around you look at and decide whether or not they want what you have (Jesus). So, how are we supposed to live, as Christians? Answer: Lovingly. Check out what Jesus said:

Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 NLT)

Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other. (John 13:34-35 MSG)

There’s something attractive about Love; Love that is patient & kind; Love that is forgiving & doesn’t keep score/track of wrongdoings; the kind of Love that is God (Agape). When you treat people with that kind of Love, you’re shining a light so bright that they can’t help but be attracted to it…Share Love. God is Love.

Okay, now for an update on my friend who’s currently on a mission trip (click here to read the previous update):

One night, my friend and the other missionaries had a “party.” And, by “party,” I mean they gathered together in a small room and began to sing softly to God. The feeling of gathering together to worship God was exhilarating, because it had been so long since they were able to do that. It wasn’t until several minutes later that they realized that a window was open, and someone was watching them from outside. Subsequently, out of wisdom, they quickly evacuated the building. And, it was at that moment that my friend realized the extent of persecution experienced by believers in that area. The locals can’t even say the name of Jesus (this brought tears to my eyes – We are so blessed in America).

On a brighter note: Many doors have been opened to my friend through her field of study. And, God has presented her with several opportunities to create friendships. God is so Good!

Prayer Requests: Please pray that the locals come to know the freedom and confidence only given through Christ Jesus. Also, pray that the friendships that are blossoming continue to grow. Lastly, pray that dreams and visions fall on the people and they come to the missionaries for answers. This will provide an awesome avenue for the Good News. **G.I.G.**
