I befriended an amazing seamstress/fashion designer who has a suite in the office building where I work. Subsequently, at least twice a week I stop by her shop. Sometimes it’s because I need something altered, and other times it’s just to converse. Well, about a week ago she let me try on a green maxi dress that she made. Since it fit me so nicely, I decided to take it off her hands.  Upon leaving her shop, I confidently told her that I would wear it to church that Sunday (this was Friday). When I got home that confidence rapidly dwindled away, because I had no idea what to wear with it. And, I made the decision not to go shopping, because I knew I could find something in my closet if I put my mind to it. Here’s what I came up with:

I layered the dress with a navy blue blazer, and I wore snake print sandals.

As for the accessories, my accent color was the orange (“mango”) in the necklace and bracelets. Since the orange was such a rich color, I decided to wear brown & gold bracelets on my other wrist. Plus, the earrings added a little more color, and they gave the look a Bohemian feel…Oh, and guess where I got the orange bracelets?

…I was in a Nigerian wedding earlier this year, and the bridesmaids were given orange jewelry to go with our wraps & head ties…I can recycle anything for the sake of style.
